Republic of Congo - Fish farmers in Kouilou region will be trained by COFAD (2024 to 2027)
The activities will target three areas:
- Technical support for fish farmers (improvement of existing structures)
- Fish feed and local production support (mix of imports and local production)
- Entrepreneurial support and economic development of existing operators
It is planned to establish a training scheme for technical capacity building (including the development of associated training content). Over 200 farmers will benefit from the training by COFAD's experts. The aim is to increase production by 50% over 3 years. A strong focus will be on the production of fingerlings for tilapia and African catfish. The advisory team will also endeavor in how far the development of local solutions for fish feed is a true option and promote the sustainable intensification of the existing farms. Economic dynamism and entrepreneurial skills will be levered along the value chain to ensure economic and ecological sustainability over the three years project. Read more
