Mauritania - Start of a five-years project to support scientific fisheries research (2024-2029)

The project funded by KfW will aim to assist technically and scientifically the research centre IMROP (Institut Mauritanien de Recherches Océanographiques et de Pêches) based in Nouadhibou.

The objective of the five years cooperation assistance with IMROP is to ensure the sustainable management of fisheries resources. In partnership with the French Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) and the University Agrocampus Rennes, COFAD will support the research orientation and financial planning for the future research campaigns of the institute until 2029. A team of experts will be operating on location with support from internationally known scientific experts to support IMROP staff in their research and support to the fisheries sector. COFAD is happy being back to Mauritania after the work conducted in 2020-2021 and excited to start a new collaboration with IRD and Agrocampus Rennes. Read more
